WooCommerce Analytics: See Your Store's Visitors, Carts and Orders
WooCommerce has its own reports inside WordPress. Hitsteps adds a live view on top: who is on your store right now, what they're looking at, how far they get through the cart and checkout, and which of those visits turned into a real order.
Put simply: see where visitors come from and what they do next. This page covers what Hitsteps can and can't do on a WooCommerce store, plus the caveats to know before you set it up.
What Hitsteps shows you on a WooCommerce store
Real-time visitors. The live visitor view shows people as they move around your store, page by page. It is available from Free. Use it on a launch day, during a sale, or to check whether a campaign brings people in.
Cart and checkout journeys. Hitsteps records browser commerce events such as product views, cart activity and checkout steps. You can see how shoppers move from browsing to buying, and where they stop.
Verified orders. Orders and revenue come in through the official Hitsteps WordPress plugin (use version 5.99 or later), once Commerce credentials are set up for your store. This is how WooCommerce revenue becomes verified revenue in Hitsteps. There's more on this below.
Funnels. Set up funnels to see where visitors drop out between steps, for example from a product page to the cart and on to checkout. Funnels are on Pro and above.
Click heatmaps. See where people click on product pages, category pages and the cart. Heatmaps start on the Growth plan, which includes 2,000 daily clicks and a 7-day heatmap archive. Daily click limits vary by plan.
Live chat. Answer a question about sizing or delivery while the shopper is still on the page. Live chat starts on Starter with 1 agent; Growth includes 3.
Hitsteps also has AI referral tracking, uptime monitoring (Pro includes 10 monitors) and Hitsteps AI, which you can ask questions about your analytics (Growth includes 25 questions a day). Every plan also includes an MCP plugin.
How ecommerce data works in Hitsteps: two lanes
Hitsteps keeps behavior and revenue apart on purpose. Browser events tell you what shoppers did. Verified orders tell you what was actually bought. The two come from different places and are handled differently.
| Lane | What it covers | Where it comes from | Creates verified revenue? |
|---|---|---|---|
| Browser commerce events | Product views, cart activity, checkout steps | The visitor's browser, via Hitsteps tracking | No, never |
| Verified orders | Completed WooCommerce orders | The official Hitsteps WordPress plugin (use version 5.99 or later), with Commerce credentials set up | Yes |
Browser data is good for spotting patterns, but a browser can't confirm that an order really exists in your store. That's why Hitsteps never turns browser events into verified revenue. If you see checkout activity but no verified orders, first check whether the order lane is connected.
Other platforms use the same two lanes. Shopify stores use the Hitsteps Shopify app, and custom stores can send orders from their own store server. You can read more on the ecommerce analytics page.

A few things that are easy to miss:
- You need Pro or above. Ecommerce analytics and funnels start on the Pro plan ($21.99/month, under 500,000 pageviews, 30 sites). Lower plans don't include them.
- Collection is forward-only. Hitsteps records orders from the point your setup starts working. It never imports older orders. Your WooCommerce reports still hold the older history.
- Check your plugin version. For verified orders, use version 5.99 or later of the official Hitsteps WordPress plugin. Update and confirm the version before you rely on the numbers.
- Check Data Quality status. After setup, look at the Data Quality status in Hitsteps to confirm orders are coming in as expected.
Getting started
- Create a Hitsteps account. Your free account includes a 7-day Pro trial with no credit card needed, so ecommerce and funnels are included during the trial.
- Install the official Hitsteps WordPress plugin on your WooCommerce site. The WordPress analytics page explains the plugin in more detail.
- Confirm you use plugin version 5.99 or later and that Commerce credentials are provisioned for your store.
- Check the Data Quality status once orders start coming in.
- Watch the live visitor view, then build funnels and heatmaps around the pages that matter most.
Pricing for WooCommerce analytics
Hitsteps bills by pageviews, not sessions. Here's how the main plans compare for a store:
| Plan | Price (USD/month) | Monthly pageviews | Sites | Heatmaps | Funnels and ecommerce analytics |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Free | $0 | Under 2,000 | 1 | No | No |
| Starter | $4.99 | Under 10,000 | 2 | No | No |
| Growth | $9.99 | Under 50,000 | 5 | Yes (2,000 daily clicks, 7-day archive) | No |
| Pro | $21.99 | Under 500,000 | 30 | Yes | Yes |
| Business | $49.99 | Under 1 million | 100 | Yes | Yes |
Higher plans go up to $449.99/month. See full pricing for everything each plan includes.
What Hitsteps doesn't do
Hitsteps does not record or replay sessions. If you're comparing other tools too, see how Hitsteps compares with Google Analytics and Microsoft Clarity.
FAQ
Does Hitsteps work with WooCommerce?
Yes. You install the official Hitsteps WordPress plugin on your WooCommerce site. Verified orders need three things: plugin version 5.99 or later, Commerce credentials set up for your store, and a Pro plan or above.
Which Hitsteps plan do I need for WooCommerce?
Ecommerce analytics and funnels start on Pro ($21.99/month, under 500,000 pageviews). Heatmaps start on Growth ($9.99/month). If you only want to watch traffic, a lower plan may be enough. Check the pricing page for what each plan includes.
Will Hitsteps import my past WooCommerce orders?
No. Collection is forward-only. Hitsteps records orders from the point your setup starts working and never imports older orders. Your WooCommerce reports still hold the earlier history.
Why don't my cart and checkout events show up as revenue?
In Hitsteps, browser data never creates verified revenue. Revenue only comes from the verified order lane, which for WooCommerce is the official Hitsteps WordPress plugin (use version 5.99 or later). If revenue looks like it's missing, check your plugin version and Data Quality status.
Can Hitsteps record and replay sessions?
No. Hitsteps does not do session recording or replay.
