Sales and promotions
Discounts, newsletters and campaigns, with the change in visits around them.
Annotations put your launches, sales and campaigns on every chart in your dashboard. On Pro, the rest is added for you: holidays and shopping days in your visitors' countries, traffic spikes and drops, and changes to your tracking, store and settings.
Click a day on any chart and choose Annotate, or add one on the Annotations page. Pick a type, write a short note and, for something that runs a while, like a week-long sale, give it an end date.
Discounts, newsletters and campaigns, with the change in visits around them.
A redesign, a new checkout or a price change, on the day it went live.
Downtime and incidents. Confirmed outages from your uptime monitors can be added for you.
Anything your team should remember when it reads the chart later.
The Annotations page compares average daily traffic after each date with the same weekdays before it, so you can see how visits moved after a launch or a sale.
It shows an association, not proof of cause.Once a day, your latest data is checked and what changed is marked on your charts. You choose which kinds appear on each website.
Spikes and drops in visits compared with a week earlier, with the main source when one stands out, and pages, referrers, campaigns and AI assistants seen for the first time.
Changes on your side: tracking that starts, pauses or resumes, a store connection, a published Shopify theme, a new goal or a changed setting.
Dates outside your website that change how people browse and shop: holidays, shopping days, cultural dates and Google search updates.
Try them on your own data: automatic annotations are part of the eligible 7-day trial. After the trial, your own annotations stay. Switch any kind off, or all of them, on the Annotations page.
Your calendar follows your audience. Each country with at least 15% of your visits over the last 90 days, up to three, adds its public holidays, shopping days, observances and cultural dates. Worldwide dates such as Black Friday, Cyber Monday and Valentine's Day appear on every site.
The Coming up next widget on your dashboard counts down through the next 60 days of dates and your own plans. When visits moved on the same date last year, it shows by how much.
Your own planned annotations appear there on every plan.
The Annotations page in your dashboard menu brings them together with your traffic chart.
Browse by date or by the largest change, and export them as CSV.
Find an annotation by its text, or show one type at a time.
See what is planned and which outside dates are coming up.
Keep an automatic annotation as your own note to edit it, or dismiss it for everyone on the site.
Use it when you need live visitor context, practical installation routes, and action tools around the traffic you already have.
Hitsteps has kept evolving across website platforms, browser changes, analytics shifts, and store workflows.
WordPress, Shopify, Wix, Google Tag Manager, HTML, CMS, commerce, browser, and desktop setup paths are documented from one hub.
Live dashboard, visitor profiles, heatmaps, chat, Segments, uptime, reports, and alerts stay connected after tracking is installed.
Automatic annotations come from the data your site already collects, a calendar maintained for all sites and, if you connect it, Google Search Console. No visitor data is sent anywhere to create them.
Your own annotations are included on every plan, including Free. Automatic annotations are included in Pro and above, and in the eligible 7-day trial. After a trial, your own annotations stay and the automatic ones are hidden until you upgrade.

Yes. On the Annotations page, switch each kind on or off for a website, or turn them all off.
It is hidden for everyone on the site. You can show dismissed annotations again at any time, or keep one as your own note and edit it.
Calendar dates appear up to 60 days ahead. Settings changes and store events are marked when they happen. Traffic and tracking changes are checked once a day, after the day ends, and first-time pages, referrers, campaigns and AI assistants are marked once tracking has 3 days of data.
Add your own annotations on any plan, and see the automatic ones on your own data with Pro or the eligible 7-day trial.
